Printable Detective Escape Room Bundle: 4 Family Mystery Games, Ages 8 To Adult, No Crime
Four printable mystery escape room games with evidence files to read like a detective: one for kids of 8 to 12, two for family game night (10 to adult) and one for teens and adults. There is no crime in any of them. Things are missing or mixed up, nobody is accused, and logic sorts it out. You print them at home, fill the envelopes and play at a table or around the house.
The Four Cases
- The Case of the Vanishing Trophy, ages 8-12: the school's Cup has vanished an hour before the final. Three squads find out WHO carried it, WHERE it is and WHEN it went, with an evidence file (team sheet, locker list, match-day plan), 12 evidence cards and a detective card for every player. 6 to 14 players, about 60 minutes.
- The Bookbinder's Riddle, ages 10 to adult: the Island Book is shut inside the Riddle Press. Find twelve riddle leaves at three benches, put the riddle together and answer it. Evidence file: an order book, a shelf card, a book number card and four collection tickets; one sheet folds into a real little book. 2 to 9 players, about 60 to 90 minutes.
- Midnight Luggage Mix-Up, teens and adults: every luggage tag on the night train came off. Every player gets a ticket with a name and a part to play; three coach crews win back the tags and work out whose case is whose, and one clue always sits in another coach, so the crews have to talk. 3 to 12 players, about 75 minutes.
- Case No. 1, The Wandering Snow Globe, ages 10 to adult: Grandma's heirloom snow globe has left the mantel, and a coded note says it is safe and locked away. Up to four teams solve 12 puzzles that open sealed evidence envelopes; four team facts meet on the Case Board, and the mover's Name Pyramid opens the three-dial lock before the family photo. Self-checking, with Detective Basics pages and two levels. 1 to 16 players, about 1 to 2 hours.
How They Play
- Every solved puzzle wins a card; the cards and the evidence file solve the case
- Codes check themselves on a board or shelf: same sign as on the puzzle page means the code is right, so no host has to mark answers
- 3-step hints for every puzzle (a nudge, the method, the answer) and every solution explained
- Several kinds of math pyramid puzzle in each case, plus evidence logic, ciphers and other puzzle types
WHAT YOU GET (instant download, 4 ZIP files)
Open each ZIP to find that kit's PDF files:
- Each kit in US Letter and A4, a tablet copy for the host, and Party Extras (or Game Night Extras) in US Letter and A4
- Extras: invitations with type-in names, a door sign, photo-booth signs, party bingo and more
- Each kit links to its own free bonus folder with a bonus round of expert puzzles and ink-saver pages; it opens from a QR code inside the kit, so it is not an extra file in the ZIP
You Will Need
A printer (colour looks best), paper, scissors, tape, pencils and 16 to 19 envelopes for each game (paper clips for two of them). About 45 minutes to an hour and a half to print, cut and fill the envelopes.
