Pure logic puzzles

Star Battle

Place the stars so every row, every column and every outlined region holds the same number of them, and no two ever touch. One answer, always. No guessing, and each book teaches every step of the reasoning it asks for.

  • Same count everywhereEach row, column and region holds the same number of stars: one, two or three, depending on the book.
  • Stars never touchNo two stars share an edge or a corner, not even diagonally.
  • One answer, no guessingEvery grid has exactly one solution that can be reached by logic alone.

Six volumes, one puzzle to a page

Pick your grid

Every book follows the same rules. What changes is the grid size, how many stars share a row, and how many levels the book grades through.

Cover images are the ones we have on file. The book you receive may show a slightly different cover.

Quick guide

Which one is for you?

  • Never solved a Star Battle before, or solving with a child? Start with Volume Three, Gentle Start: one star a row and the gentlest levels in the series.
  • Want the puzzle everyone means by “Star Battle”? Volume One, Signature is the 10×10, two-star book the rest of the line is built around.
  • Need a bigger page to write on? Both large-print books share the same six-level grading. Volume Two has Volume One's 10×10 grids. Volume Six adds the largest, hardest grids in print.
  • Finished Volume One and want more of the same? Volume Four, Mixed Sizes keeps the rules and grows the grid, up to 11×11.
  • Want the puzzle itself to change, not just get bigger? Volume Five, Variants plays two different rule sets on a 10×10 grid.
  • Looking for the biggest challenge in the series? Volume Six, Marathon: 13×13, three stars a row, large print.
