THE GREAT ZOMBIE SNOOZE: a funny printable zombie escape room game for ages 10 to 14 and the family
Saturday at Dimple Dunes Mini Golf. The slush machine made a new flavour all by itself, Pond Slush, and everybody who drank it turned green, stuck both arms out and began to groan "Snoooooze". Now the zombies are fast asleep on their feet, eyes wide open, and the Great Zombie Snooze lasts 60 minutes. Mix the Wake-Up Fizz before they wake up. Pronto the tortoise, suddenly the fastest thing on the course, shows the way.
THIS IS AN ESCAPE ROOM PARTY GAME, played with printed puzzle pages, envelopes, cards and cut-out props at a table or around the house. It is not a book and not a worksheet pack.
Every solved puzzle wins a cure card. Collect all 12 to mix the cure and open the final lock.
Needs only paper, scissors and tape. No special paper or pens.
How It Plays
- The players split into three crews. Each crew plays four holes of the mini golf course, side by side, so nobody waits
- Every hole is a different kind of puzzle and gives a code
- The crew finds its code on the Scoreboard. Same little picture as on the puzzle page? The code is right, and the next envelope may be opened
- Inside waits a cure card. With four cards a crew mixes its jug
- All crews pour their jugs into the Slush Machine, solve the last lock together, and shout the wake-up call
- No host is needed to check answers. A full host guide is included
16 Puzzles, Easy To Harder
- 12 holes of 12 different kinds: Par Stack, Bank Shot, Groan Code, Prime Path, Score Card, Windmill Wheel, Team Photo, Under Par, Price Stack, Who Snoozes Where, Snooze-o-Meter, Times Stack
- Then three Mixing Jugs and the Slush Machine finale
- 6 kinds of math pyramid puzzle: adding (Par Stack), a Pyramid Maze of prime numbers (Prime Path), plus and minus numbers (Under Par), dollars and cents (Price Stack), multiplying (Times Stack) and card pyramids (the jugs and the Slush Machine)
- 7 more kinds: a bounce puzzle, a zombie cipher, scorecard sums, picture clues with 12 zombies, a logic grid, fractions, decimals and percents to sort, and a turning wheel
- The maths is for ages 10 to 14: adding to 1,000, times tables, prime numbers under 100, plus and minus numbers, money, simple fractions and percents. Each puzzle sits a step below the top of the age band, so a crew can finish it together
Paper Props To Cut Out
- The Windmill Wheel: turn the sails until all four windows show a number from the 7 times table
- Six Snooze-o-Meter cards to sort from the lightest sleeper to the deepest
- 12 cure cards to win, one for every hole
Nobody Gets Stuck
- The Scoreboard checks every code: a wrong code shows the wrong picture, or is not there at all
- Three hints for every puzzle: a nudge, the method, the answer. A hint costs a lettuce token, and the whole crew must zombie-walk to the host to fetch it
- An answer card, every solution explained, and every puzzle shown solved
- If the 60 minutes run out, nobody loses: everybody has to move like a zombie until the cure is mixed

Good To Know
- Digital download only: nothing is shipped.
- Ages 10 to 14 and the family. 2 to 12 players: three crews of 1 to 4.
- About 60 minutes of play with three crews. One small crew that plays everything needs about 2 hours, or about 90 minutes with the shorter game in the host guide.
- You need a printer (colour looks best), 19 envelopes, scissors, pencils, one paper fastener (or a pencil tip) and tape. About an hour to print, cut and fill the envelopes.
- Print at 100% (actual size), on one side of the paper.
- Play times are plans, not promises: no child has timed this game for us. Hints keep every crew moving.
- The zombies are comic: no scares, nobody is hurt, everybody is back to normal at the end, and there is no holiday in the story. Good for birthdays, sleepovers, family game nights, clubs and classrooms all year round.
- Not suitable for children under 3 (small paper parts).
- Love math pyramids? Creouts Publishing also publishes math pyramid puzzle books in paperback: see creouts.com/pyramid-puzzle-books/.
