Tolo the toucan is the explorers' guide in a jungle called the Green Tangle, and he carries the only map in his big, bright beak. Then he opens it to say “Look!” and the wind takes the map. It tears into sixteen squares. The Toucan's Lost Map is a printable jungle explorer escape room party game for ages 7 to 11, and the way home is the map itself.
How it plays
- Players make three trail teams: Frog, Monkey and Butterfly. Each team solves four puzzles, easy to harder, side by side.
- Every puzzle ends in a code. The team finds it on the Trail Post: the same fruit sign as on the puzzle page means the code is right, and no grown-up has to check.
- The envelope named on the page holds one square of the map. The four corners lie on the table from the start, and the squares go in by their names, A1 to D4, like a real grid map.
- When the map is whole, each team walks its own compass route across it with a paper toucan. Every walk must end on the Pyramid Pass, so a wrong step shows itself.

The finale
The trail stones the teams land on become twelve hops up the Pyramid Pass, a pyramid maze of 28 stones: each hop goes to a touching stone exactly that much bigger, and a wrong number finds nowhere to land. The top stone is the last code. Then the sixteen flags on the map decode Tolo's Note. There are 15 puzzles of 15 kinds, and five of the kinds are math pyramids.
Kind to every animal
No animal is chased, caught or harmed in this game: twelve jungle animals find the map squares and give them back. The twelve animal facts in the trail journals are true. If the time runs out nobody loses: the first drops of rain fall and the teams finish under an umbrella.
